About Aeternity

Aeternity (AE) is an open-source project which prioritizes high-frequency transactions, purely-working smart contracts, and distributed oracles. Launched in 2017 by Nikola Stojanow, the project aims to address the main problems on the crypto market by expanding scalability of decentralized applications and smart contracts, sharding, and regulating contract implementation. Aeternity blockchain is written in the Turing-complete language and built on cutting-edge cryptographic structures which contribute to strong efficiency, enhanced security and solved “single point of failure” problems. As a result, the project allows transparent transactions and off-chan contract execution.

What Is Aeternity (AE)?

This Aerternity exchange page will provide you with one of the best alternatives on how to swap your coins for Aeternity. Read on to learn more about this promising blockchain protocol. Aeternity provides high-speed transactions, supports dApps and smart contracts, and claims to be faster and more energy-efficient than other popular blockchains.

The Aeternity blockchain was released in the middle of the 2017 bull run, taking advantage of the extreme bullish sentiment in the markets at that time. It was created to solve some of the issues of the Ethereum blockchain, mainly high gas fees and slow transactions.

To achieve this, Aeternity provides Erlang-based scalable smart contracts for deploying decentralized applications (dApps). As such, it has been created to accommodate large-scale usage, including business application, internet of things (IoT) tracking, as well as to be a major actor in the decentralized finance ecosystem (DeFi).

Thanks to its smart contracts, the Aeternity network can be used to create fungible and non-fungible tokens. Additionally, these can be made into programmable money that could directly be used by governments to create their central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). The AE crypto is used to deploy these smart contracts and pay for transactions on the network.

Worth noting is that the AE crypto on-chain transaction fees are low (no fees at all for off-chain transactions). This has made Aeternity popular with developers and its use cases spread over various industries, including logistics, data marketplaces, social media platforms, NFT games, and more.

Aeternity Price Index

Like many cryptocurrencies released during the 2017-2018 bull run, the Aeternity price USD rose to new heights shortly after its launch. The price quickly dropped after the initial spike, worrying some investors that participated in the ICO.

That said, another Aeternity to USD price rally happened shortly after, making incredible gains in a couple of months. At one moment, the AE price chart rivaled that of the highest performers, managing to register 600% gains in just a couple of months.

However, the bear market that followed in 2019 didn’t allow Aeternity to shine. The market was overtaken by competitors, plunging the value of AE coins to all-time lows. In the latest bullish momentum of the crypto markets, Aeternity managed to show a bit more action on the price chart, but this rally was short-lived.

Circulation of Aeternity

One of the most important metrics when assessing the value of cryptocurrencies is their total and maximum supply. The price of cryptocurrencies is determined by supply and demand. So, the scarcer the cryptocurrency is, the higher its potential value will be.

Since Aeternity uses a mix of PoS and PoW models, AE tokens are mineable and can be mined with the Cuckoo Cycle algorithm. The number of AE coins created with each new block follows a deflationary schedule. This allows investors to predict the number of tokens that will be put in circulation, and therefore the inflation they will be subjected to.

The maximum supply of Aeternity is 536 million, expected to be mined by the end of the year 2134. This fixed supply makes it much more interesting as a store of value compared to cryptocurrencies without a capped supply.

Ways of Buying AE

Because of its popularity with miners, Aeternity is represented on various crypto exchanges. However, they only offer a limited number of exchange pairs. And because investors might want to convert a cryptocurrency that is not widely accepted as a payment method to AE, Godex is the best alternative when you wish to buy Aeternity.

First of all, Godex provides you with more than 300 coins and tokens to exchange for AE. You can opt for anything from stablecoins to high-yield DeFi tokens that you can stake on various liquidity mining platforms.

The process of conducting an AE exchange on Godex is extremely simple. All you need to do is to provide your wallet address and sign the transaction to receive your tokens in your wallet within minutes.

And because we value your privacy, you won’t have to share any of your personal data with us. Whereas other exchanges ask for documents and ID confirmation, you don’t have to provide anything but your wallet address to convert AE on Godex.

F.A.Q.

How Does AE Work?

Aeternity uses a mix of proof-of-work (PoW) and proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanisms to validate transactions and create new coins. For example, the AE tokens are created using a process called “key block creation”. These blocks are created every 3 minutes and do not contain any transactions.

On the other hand, the transactions on the Aeternity network are contained within PoS-validated blocks called microblocks. These are verified by validators, and microblocks are created every 3 seconds. This allows the network to benefit from both the PoW security and decentralization together with the PoS speed of execution. This feature has made AE tokens a great alternative for GPU miners.

More importantly, this allows the network to provide a high transaction threshold (160tps) coupled with low transaction fees. This is ideal for deploying dApps that rely on microtransactions, such as decentralized exchanges or NFT marketplaces.

How Many Aeternity (AE) Coins Are There in Circulation?

The maximum supply is 536 million and should be reached by the year 2134. Here’s how the mining schedule is supposed to look for the upcoming years:

  • 2022 — 15 million AE added to the supply.
  • 2023 — 12 million AE added to the supply.
  • 2024 — 9 million AE added to the supply.

You can notice that the mining schedule follows a deflationary model, with fewer tokens released each year. This should allow the AE price to rise over time.
