What is DASH?
Dash or Digital Cash is a cryptocurrency that was created in 2014 as a tool for simple and quick payments. It has changed its name three times. It was launched as XCoin, a month later it was renamed Darkcoin and now we know it as Dash.
By creating Dash cryptocurrency, the creators wanted to surpass the progenitor of digital money. Unlike Bitcoin’s single-tier network, where all the work is done by miners, Dash uses a two-tier network. Some network functions, such as creating new blocks, are performed by miners. The second layer of the Dash network consists of masternodes, which provide private send, instant send and management functions. Its main advantage is that users can conduct transactions as secretly and anonymously as possible.
However, cryptocurrency, which in 2015 ranked fifth among the most popular cryptocurrency, is now at the 63th place. Dash price at the time of this writing is $126.22.
Dash is useful for both individuals and organizations, including suppliers of goods, financial services, traders and those who need to make international money transfers. Its strategic development goals include building an ecosystem and brand, ensuring user satisfaction, and further developing the technologies that underpin the network.
It is not surprising why many people want to invest in Dash. If you are also one of them, you should think about a decent place to store your Digital Cash.
What is Dash Wallet?
On the official website of the cryptocurrency, there is a wide selection of wallets for storing Dash coins:
- desktop;
- mobile;
- hardware;
- paper.
The official coin wallet is DASH Core, which is offered for Windows 32 bit and 64 bit, OS X and Linux. Since it belongs to “thick wallets”, downloading the wallet and blockchain, as well as the synchronization process, can take from several hours to a day or even more.
In addition to DASH Core, developers offer several more options for desktop wallets: Electrum, Exodus and Jaxx for Linux, OS X and Windows x64, as well as Jaxx for Windows x32. All of them belong to the “thin wallet” category, that is, there is no need to download the entire blockchain. When creating them, the user is given a seed phrase, with which you can restore the wallet or enter it from another computer.
How do you use Dash Wallet?
When creating a Dash coin wallet, special keys are assigned to it: private and public. They are needed to carry out transactions with money. If you need someone to send Dash to your wallet, you tell him the public key, which serves as something like an address. If you yourself send Dash to someone, the private key will confirm your right to dispose of these assets. The most important thing is not to share the private key with anyone, otherwise you will lose all your savings.
When using Dash wallet online, take care of protecting your device where it is stored, as it can be attacked by cybercriminals who want to steal your digital wealth. It is better to store large amounts of Dash in a cold wallet, which is completely offline.
List of 14 best Dash Wallets in 2024
Due to Dash popularity, there are so many wallets that support this cryptocurrency that it will not be difficult to identify the best 14 of them:
- Ledger Nano S
- Trezor
- KeepKey
- Jaxx Liberty
- Exodus
- DASH Core
- Guarda Wallet
- Coinomi
- DASH Cryptocurrency Wallet
- DASH Core iOS
- DASH Paper Wallet
- Edge Wallet
- Infinito Wallet
- Atomic Wallet
I will not do a detailed review of each of them, but rather try to highlight the most important features: the advantages and disadvantages.
Ledger Nano S
As it was mentioned earlier, cold wallets are the most reliable in terms of security, and the hardware wallet by Ledger is the undisputed leader in this category. In addition, this wallet supports many other most popular cryptocurrencies and tokens, so you will not be limited to just Dash coins.
The full list can be viewed on Ledger’s official website. This wallet looks like a regular USB flash drive, and due to its small size, it is easy to carry. The safety of digital money is ensured by a PIN code that is created during installation and is entered twice each time the wallet is turned on.
Thanks to the useful backup function, which consists of a 24-word mnemonic phrase (recovery seed backup), you can access your assets if something goes wrong. Ledger Live app is also password protected.
As you can see, Ledger Nano S is highly recommended, especially if you need to store a large amount of Dash. Of course, this pleasure is not cheap, and you will have to pay $80-90 for it. However, this way you can not worry about the safety of your digital savings.
Trezor
Another secure hardware wallet that looks like a car key is considered the world’s first standalone coin storage device. Trezor contains user keys, as well as data on financial transactions. Although the wallet is packed with serious security features, its interface is relatively simple and intuitive, allowing even inexperienced owners to use it without any complications. The cost of the wallet depends on the model. Trezor One model can be purchased for approximately $59.
KeepKey
KeepKey creators were among the first to support Dash coin. Like the Ledger Nano S and Trezor, the KeepKey wallet provides the same robust security measures: PIN and recovery phrases. KeepKey wallet has this unique feature when it swaps PIN digits from time to time. Thus, malware cannot copy your code and steal your cryptocurrency.
In terms of size, it is twice the size of its hardware competitors. However, this can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. The advantage is that, due to its size, it has a large screen, which is very convenient for digital money management. On the other hand, it is not very convenient to carry with you. With its cost, which is about $49, it attracts more than its competitors.
Jaxx Liberty
Developed 6 years ago by one of the creators of Ethereum, the wallet quickly gained popularity among users. What is the reason for this success? Dash coin holders are attracted by a number of features in this product: convenience, functionality and constant development. It offers desktop applications for Windows, Linux and macOS, jaxx web (an online version with browser access), and mobile apps for iOS and Android. With Jaxx Liberty, you can manage an incredible amount of currency.
The interface of both the application and the web version pleases with its simplicity and thoughtfulness. All tools are in place, there is market data, news feed and portfolio. It is something like a multi-application. One of the most convenient functions is support for a QR code with a public key for sending or receiving currency.
Well, convenience, multifunctionality and various nice features are good, but what about security? And here we have Jaxx Liberty’s weak point. However, security measures in all online wallets leave much to be desired.
Jaxx Liberty is deprived of 2FA authorization, multisig technology, and in general at least some kind of identity verification. And recently, some users started having problems with withdrawing money after the last update. Therefore, be careful when using this wallet.
Exodus
Exodus designers wanted to create a convenient wallet that could perform any operation that interests the average cryptocurrency user. This, according to their expectations, should have made the experience of working with crypto much easier and more enjoyable for newcomers in the field.
The user interface offers all the necessary functions, such as receiving and sending any individual cryptocurrency, viewing a portfolio, a trading function, and several options for restoring access. Another pleasant thing appreciated by many users is high-quality customer support.
The Exodus wallet has a built-in trading function provided by the ShapeShift platform, which allows you to exchange one currency for another quickly and easily. It’s worth noting that simplicity comes with a higher commission than some other major trading platforms.
As in the case of the Jaxx Liberty wallet, Exodus does not have security measures that we would like to use to protect your Dash coins. The password is just one obstacle for intruders.
DASH Core
Dash Core is an official desktop wallet of Dash coin, and is developed and supplied directly by the Dash Core Group. It has a whole range of different features (masternode management, PrivateSend, InstantSend etc.) and is convenient to use on your PC. With this wallet, you do not need any confirmation when accessing your cryptocurrency other than the secret key.
Since the Dash wallet was specially designed to store the cryptocurrency of the same name, it is 100% suitable for this purpose. Among the disadvantages is its weight, as it belongs to thick wallets. This means that when you install it, the entire blockchain is loaded. But if you have a lot of space on your device (more than 10GB), patience and a good Internet connection, then a Dash Core wallet might be exactly what you need.
Guarda Wallet
The functionality of the Guarda wallet opens the door to the new financial system you manage. It is available in web and desktop versions, and browsers that can interact with all decentralized applications that can be easily synchronized with each other. It allows you to access and manage all of your funds, regardless of the application or device you use.
With Guarda you have full control over the private keys of your crypto wallet. The wallet likes to maintain privacy, so it encrypts all user data and securely stores it on the device itself – no one can access users’ funds except the owner of private keys. The user can activate Touch ID or Face ID to access the crypto repository without having to enter a password each time.
Guarda makes it easy to buy cryptocurrency with a bank card, exchange coins and tokens with just a few clicks. Send and receive funds instantly. You can scan a QR code to send and receive cryptography quickly.
It supports more than 45 blockchains, more than 10,000 tokens and stable coins, including Dash.
The downside is the high commission for exchanging one cryptocurrency for another, or simply for sending assets. Although you can create an account, download the app and use it for free, you will need to pay a commission of 3.5% when using the in exchange service.
Coinomi
One of the most important advantages of Coinomi is the anonymous storage using Crypto money. There is no support for KYC, on the contrary customer data is encrypted, ip-addresses are hidden – information is mixed and dozens of false addresses are created.
Coinomi has well-optimized typical options like internal digital coin conversion, transactions, and more. There is an integrated cryptocurrency exchange ShapeShift and a built-in service Changelly.
The simplicity and convenience of the Coinomi also attracts Dash owners. There are no extra tools such as Depth of Market, numerous settings for price charts, news feeds, fiat currency exchange, chats, and stuff like these. There is not even multisignature and translation or two-factor authentication, everything is easy and minimalistic. Due to the lack of additional functions, the application has a small size and low requirements for RAM capabilities. This is extremely important for mobile devices.
Impressive conversion speed simultaneous work with two exchange services dramatically accelerates the implementation of exchange operations. The maximum delays in hectic periods rarely exceed a couple of minutes, all transactions and conversions are performed in almost one click.
Of the shortcomings, users note the disgusting work of technical support, where even the most important problems are difficult to solve, and consultation is often useless and uninformative. There are also user complaints about the loss of сrypto coins, but this is mainly due to the exchange service Changelly, which, by the way, is rarely used for digital money storage. There are not enough additional security measures, which makes it dangerous to connect via public wi-fi points.
DASH Cryptocurrency Wallet
The official mobile application for storing Dash cryptocurrency and making payments. It is open source and guarantees full control over the funds. An excellent feature is that you can use the application even while offline – send and receive Dash using bluetooth.
It is worth noting that the DASH wallet has the InstantSend DASH feature, but does have the PrivateSend feature.
Mobile versions are available for Android, IOS and even Apple Watch, which makes it possible to access transactions even faster.
DASH Core iOS
This is the first and official Dash wallet for iOS.
It connects directly to the Dash Network, so it has no servers.
As an HD wallet, the service gives you 12-word keys that you can use to restore access if you lose your phone. This wallet contains an integrated ShapeShift that allows you to convert Dash to Bitcoin and send payments in this popular crypto currency.
Similar to Dash Wallet, the app supports InstantSend Dash, but there is no PrivateSend yet. In particular, this mobile wallet version is only compatible with iOS.
The wallet is easy to use, it has a good reputation and is designed specifically for Dash, so for iPhone users who are looking for a mobile place to store their coins, this option is the most worthy choice.
Dash Paper Wallet
Paper wallets are different from other types of wallets. The main difference is that they are always offline – the user simply prints out the public and private keys on paper and enters them when he needs them.
People are quite positive about this type of cryptocurrency storage, as they consider it the most secure. Your keys will simply not appear on the World Wide Web. This means that hackers will not be able to gain access to your information – unless of course they steal this piece of paper from you directly!
Advantages of the Paper Wallet:
- most likely to provide the highest level of protection;
- convenient and simple;
- is free.
Disadvantages of Paper Wallet:
- Short-lived (the problem lies in the vulnerability of the material to water, fire, etc.);
- If someone steals or sees your keys, then you cannot do anything about it.
If you don’t want to spend money on a hardware wallet and don’t quite trust the online Dash wallet versions, then the Dash paper wallet is the right option, albeit not the most convenient one!
Edge Wallet
The Edge Wallet mobile wallet is considered quite easy to use, and for traders it is a godsend. The fact is that, in addition to Dash, it supports some other altcoins, and for convenient buying, selling and trading cryptocurrencies within the wallet, there are several built-in exchanges (ShapeShift and Changelly). You will be able to perform all of the above processes without leaving your wallet, and this is extremely convenient because you do not need to transfer your cryptocurrencies to any particular exchange, make transactions, and then transfer them back.
While mobile wallets are not always the “best” choice when it comes to crypto security, they are, in fact, noteworthy. In addition, Edge Wallet does have a number of different security features. First, all your keys are stored on your device, and not on the company’s server, that is, they are under your full responsibility. Second, Edge also supports Two-Factor Authentication, which is one of the most effective ways to protect your crypto assets today.
Of the downsides, most users will note the fact that Edge is only a mobile wallet. It means that you are tied to one device – you cannot just go to your desktop device for easier (faster) viewing and performing specific actions.
Also, in terms of cryptocurrency wallets, mobile storage is still not considered the safest option.

Infinito Wallet
Infinito Wallet has an intuitive interface, an impressive level of security, which includes several stages of authentication such as password, fingerprint or face recognition and supports more than 2000 cryptos and tokens.
The wallet does not transfer private keys and user’s personal data to any servers. Private keys always remain on the user’s device.
But Infinito Wallet users also noted a couple of downsides: the slow support service, which is only available via email, and the presence of embedded ads. The ads are not intrusive, but a little annoying.
Atomic Wallet
The wallet is a software client that can be installed both on a PC and on a smartphone. At the same time, in fact, it is not storage of Dash or another supported cryptocurrency in the literal sense of the word – it is just a program with rich functionality that provides the user with access to the blockchain where his coins are stored.
Atomic Wallet has a high level of security and is protected by Advanced Encryption Standard. Only the client has access to the coins, and all private keys are also stored on their device.
The wallet is convenient for users with different experience in working with crypto assets. However, advanced users will still appreciate the extensive functionality and the number of different coins.
Operating systems that it supports: Windows, MacOS, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu. The mobile version is available for both Android and for IOS.

Conclusions
Most often, people choose software or mobile wallets due to their affordability and portability. Those for whom security is always a top priority are trying to buy a hardware wallet or create a less convenient one – a paper wallet. In fact, it all depends on the preferences of each individual person. However, whatever your choice, you should not neglect precautions and safety. In fact, nothing else matters if your Dash coins are stolen! If you know that your funds are safe, then the inconvenient interface or lack of functions will not bother you.
